Puijon Maja is an idyllic hotel at the foot of Puijo Tower. It is surrounded by the forest of national park Puijo, however the city centre is only 2 km away. We have a large, free parking area. Guests are likely to sleep well thanks to our peaceful location and brand new (2011) beds. All rooms have private bathrooms and televisions. A buffet breakfast is served at our cozy restaurant.

Puijon Maja is a perfect choice for nature and sports lovers: just stepping out the hotel, one reaches a wide net of jogging paths and skiing tracks. Well marked nature paths in the vicinity of the hotel are a great way to explore the nature. Nearby Puijon Maja there is also a 9 hole par 3 golf course and Puijo ski stadium where world cup ski jump competitions are held.

Puijon Maja was built in 1907 and an annex with accommodation facilities was built in 1963. The current Puijo tower is the third tower on the top of the hill Puijo. The first tower was built in 1856, the second one in 1906 and the current tower in 1963. The current Puijo Tower is 75 meters high and it is 224 meters above the level of Lake Kallavesi and 306 meters above the sea level. The view from Puijo Tower over the Finnish lake region and Kuopio town is exceptionally wide and beautiful. The specialty of Puijo Tower is a rotating restaurant at the top of the tower. There is also a souvenir shop with a wide selection of products. Hotel guests have a free entrance to the tower.
